Counselling for Menopause

Support through every stage

Menopause and perimenopause affect more than just the individual - they touch partners, families, colleagues and workplaces too. I’m Carla Boulton, a Professional Accredited Counsellor. I offer compassionate, confidential support in Shrewsbury and online to help you navigate this life stage with confidence.

Menopause affects everyone

Menopause is not just hot flushes and bad moods - there are more than 30 recognised symptoms. From sleep disruption and brain fog to anxiety, low mood and relationship strain, the impact can be wide-ranging and often unexpected.

This stage of life often arrives when many other challenges are happening too: teenagers gaining independence, ageing parents needing more care, careers at a peak, or health changes unfolding. For some, early or surgical menopause adds another layer of complexity. It’s rarely just one thing - and that’s why talking helps.

How counselling can help

It’s common to feel ‘unlike yourself’ during perimenopause and menopause. Confidence may dip, thoughts and emotions can feel unfamiliar, and relationships may be tested. Counselling provides a safe, non-judgemental space to:

  • Understand what’s changing emotionally and physically

  • Explore coping strategies for daily life and work

  • Rebuild self-esteem and body confidence

  • Strengthen communication with partners, family or colleagues

  • Find clarity and feel more in control of the future

Support for partners and workplaces

Menopause doesn’t just affect the individual. Partners may feel confused or unsure how to help, while workplaces can see the impact on wellbeing and performance.

  • For partners and families: Counselling can ease tensions, open conversations and support healthier relationships.

  • For employers: I also offer counselling for employees and supervision, helping staff feel valued and supported during this time.
