During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world.
The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

As a lady I can’t (yet) grow a moustache, however I can draw so I have joined in with Creature Mag’s call for Movember illustrations, here’s my offering below

Ditherington Flax Mill

Five pieces of work, drawings and mixed media for a very successful group show by Flaxmill Arts at Ditherington Flaxmill, Shrewsbury Shropshire SY1. The show was part of an English Heritage Open Weekend which was attended by over 1000 visitors.

Gastronomy Shop Gnosall

Sarah Roberts from the Gastronomy shop a delightful delicatessen in Gnosall, Staffordshire, UK commissioned a drawing of her shop front to add to publicity materials, I was happy to oblige and then to reverse it out for her too. Drawn in Graphic pen on non-bleed paper.

Drawing a Dog

When a client asked me to draw her dog Kipper for use in her new business I was delighted, my design business is NaughtyMutt Ltd – Fred is our dog and I like a challenge.

Any commission goes through a process, part of this is getting to know the subject. In the case of converting Kipper to a coloured line drawing it meant sitting with photographs of him, learning about his character from his owner and then making sheets of drawings with my fine graphic pen, some looked just wrong, others OK but at some point in the process – not the first drawing and not the last I got it right.

My client was really pleased: Hi there Carla, the logo is fab - thank you. That was nice as there’s always a breath-holding moment inbetween sending previews to a client and the feedback. I hope you enjoy Kipper, the process – the coloured image is the final one. Kipper is already in residence on twitter and you can now see Kipper on display at the new Bow Wow Baking website.
